​A varied programme celebrating music for both string quartet and for voice, featuring the Halcyon Quartet, countertenor Hamish McLaren and pianist Glen Dempsey. 

A Halcyon Christmas in St. George's Church, Morebath, Devon

​The Halcyons kicked-off the holiday season by to returning to this beautiful church in Morebath, Devon to perform an interactive and festive concert with carols for all interwoven throughout the afternoon.  

An Evening Recital at Holy Sepulchre London

A relaxed evening of Music and Wine in the beautiful surroundings of Holy Sepulchre London. Alongside Beethoven's String Quartet Op.18 No. 1, the Halcyons collaborated with pianist Orly Watson to perform Mozart's famous Clarinet Concerto arranged for Piano Quintet . 

Thames Concerts Series

The Halcyons performed the first concert of the Thames Concerts series at St. Andrew's Church in Surbiton. The concert was framed by two Haydns; Op.20 No.4 to start, and Op.76 No.1 to finish with Dvorak's . American quartet, Britten's 3 Divertimenti in the middle. It was a lovely way to start off the academic year and they are looking forward to playing at lots of new venues in the coming season. 

St. Ives September Festival

The Halcyons performed in St. Ives Parish Church in Cornwall as part of its September Festival. An 8pm concert, the quartet explored some new works but also to performed Dvorak's American and Haydn's Op. 76 no.1, two favourites in their repertoire.

Holy Sepulchre Concert

​The Halcyon Quartet performed a full evening recital at Holy Sepulchre London, Holborn Viaduct where they are the resident quartet. The programme consisted of three of the quartets they enjoyed exploring in this year's residency: Britten's Three Divertimenti; Haydn's Op.76 No.1; and Dvorak's American Quartet.

Royal Overseas-League Final

The Halcyons performed at the final of the Royal Overseas-League, alongside three other groups, a programme of Webern's Langsamersatz and Shostakovich's 3rd String Quartet.

The Royal Opera House

The quartet joined principals of the Royal Ballet, Alessandra Ferri and Herman Cornejo and pianist Bruce Levingston for this 10-show production, titled TRIO ConcertDance, which explored the connection between music and dance at the Linbury Theatre, Royal Opera House.

Carol Service at Holy Sepulchre London

​The Halcyons performed and collaborated with the choir of Holy Sepulchre London for this special Carol Service featuring a new commission by Joshua Pacey to be televised Christmas Day 2019. 

West Cork Chamber Music Festival

The Halcyon Quartet performed a number of concerts, masterclasses, and recitals in West Cork in June as part of the Chamber Music Festival. Masterclasses were taken by members of the Dudok Quartet, the Apollon Musagete Quartet, Christopher Marwood and Andreas Reiner on repertoire that included Haydn's Op.20 No.4, Beethoven's Op.18 No.6, Bartok's String Quartet No.3, and a new work by a young composer Omar Zatriqi, one of the four winners in the Chamber Music Competition.

St Leonard's, Bengeo

​The Halcyon Quartet gave a concert in the beautiful church of St. Leonard's in the village of Bengeo, Hertford a programme of Haydn's Op.20 No.4, Moeran's String Quartet No.1 in A Minor, and Beethoven's Op.18 No.6.

Oriel College, Oxford

The Halcyon Quartet performed an evening concert, in the Senior Library of Oriel College, Oxford, a programme of Haydn's Op.74 No.1, Beethoven's Op.18. No.6, and Borodin's String Quartet No.2.

Broadstone Music Series

As part of the Broadstone Music Series the Halcyon Quartet gave a workshop with younger ensembles, followed by an evening concert of Haydn, Dvorak and Mozart.

Tour to Bermuda 2018

The Halcyon Quartet toured the wonderful island of Bermuda, where our 2nd violinist, Leidy Sinclair, hails from. In collaboration with Bermuda's Festival of the Performing Arts, the Halcyons gave two concerts and worked with younger children for chamber music coaching, performing works including Mozart's Dissonance and Schubert's Death and the Maiden.

Eaton Square

The Halcyons performed their second and final concert as the St. Peter's Prizewinners 2017-18 at St. Peter's, Eaton Square in the 'Best of British' concert series. The chosen programme of Haydn's Op.74 No.1, Dvorak's American, and Schubert's Death and the Maiden was very well-received and the quartet would love to return in the near future.

St. Botolph without Aldgate Lunchtime Concert

The Halcyon Quartet gave a performance of Dvorak's 12th string quartet, the famous American, in the concert series at St. Botolph without Aldgate. 

St. Peter's, Stourton Caundle

The Halcyons performed in the beautiful county of Dorset with a programme of Haydn's Op.74 No.1, Moeran's 1st String Quartet in A minor, and Schubert's Death and the Maiden.

Winchester Friends of Music Society

The Halcyon Quartet performed in the restored Hurstbourne Priors Barn a selection of movements from Moeran's 1st String Quartet in A minor, Schubert's Death and the Maiden and Haydn's Op.74 No.1.

Korean Cultural Centre Recital

The Halcyon Quartet gave a recital at the Korean Cultural Centre in London this July, and performed Haydn's Op.77 No.2, Moeran's 1st String Quartet, and Borodin's String Quartet No.2.

Marylebone Festival

The Halcyon Quartet performed Borodin's Second String Quartet in D Major at the Marylebone Music Festival, hosted by Sue Perkins.

British Museum Recital

To complement the British Museum's exhibition, Landscapes of the Mind: British Watercolour Landscapes 1850-1950, the Halcyons performed an all-British programme including Moeran's String Quartet in A Minor and Holst's St. Paul's Suite.

Eaton Square

Performing a programme of Haydn, Beethoven and Borodin, the Halcyon Quartet made its debut performance at Eaton Square upon being awarded the Peter's Prize 2016-2017.
